Wanda Hill is Vice President, US Regulatory Affairs within GSK’s global regulatory affairs organization. Her organization is accountable for regulatory operations that include advertising and promotion, advocacy and policy development, and labeling for GSK’s mature product portfolio in support of the US, the major commercial market for GSK.
Wanda is a 1990 graduate of the Howard University College of Pharmacy. She was a Rho Chi and Golden Key Honor Society inductee, a member of Kappa Epsilon Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Editor of The Black Apothecary and a member of the Academy of Students of Pharmacy. In addition, Wanda received the HUCOPPS Annual Faculty Award; The Bristol Award; APhA-ASP Award; Burroughs-Wellcome Company Scholarship and was recognized as an Outstanding Young Women of America.
Over her distinguished career, Wanda has been a powerful advocate for organizations with a patient-focused mission and purpose. She has a proven track record of success in driving performance to meet business objectives. Wanda is an inspirational people leader with a talent for unlocking individuals’ unique strengths to create high-performing teams that deliver innovative and exceptional quality results.
Wanda’s extensive career in the pharmaceutical industry began as a sales representative with Merck, where she first developed an interest in regulatory affairs and accurate communication of drug information. This experience informed her passion for driving efforts to ensure regulatory is a valued and collaborative business partner.
Wanda subsequently joined the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), where she gained experience in various roles, including drug information and policy and the first named Editor for the Practice Standards of ASHP. She subsequently led the regulatory and legal affairs group as a drug safety consultant for The Degge Group, leading a key project for the Veterans Health Administration to develop an adverse event reporting framework, which was published in The Lancet.
Prior to joining GSK, Wanda spent over nine years with AstraZeneca (AZ), where she led regulatory advertising and promotion efforts for various key AZ brands, including CRESTOR and NEXIUM.
Wanda also led efforts to build the pharmaceutical company Endo’s promotional regulatory affairs function, including the launch of Endo’s first NDAs developed in house, sales training, and compliance activities.
Wanda has significant experience with the FDA’s Office of Prescription Drug Promotion (OPDP), collaborating with OPDP leadership to deliver training and workshops on advertising and promotion regulation principles. She has degrees in pharmacy and law (concentration in health care law).
As part of her legal training, she served as an Associate Editor for The Journal of Healthcare Law and Policy and an Asper Fellow at the FDA, Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communication.
Wanda is passionate about mentoring, coaching and developing talent, creating an inclusive and diverse workplace, and promoting awareness of STEM opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry to attract early talent. She serves as a global regulatory affairs leadership sponsor for regulatory fellowships and internships, including the GSK postgraduate fellowship program in regulatory affairs and policy, in partnership with her alma mater, the Howard University College of Pharmacy and the FDA Office of Medical Policy.
Wanda is based in Raleigh where she lives with her husband Erick.
